Day of Rest

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

It's funny how things work out sometimes. Saturday morning I went to coffee with some girl friends and we were chatting about how we never go to the beach even though we are only 20 minutes away from it. Well, when I got home, Chris and I randomly packed up and headed to Cambria. It was an amazing day! We couldn't have asked for a nicer day on the Central Coast...I am one of those folks who likes when the beach is a bit chilly. Needless to say, we had a blast reading, playing and sleeping on the beach. We are so blessed living where we do.

February Wedding

Wednesday, February 21, 2007

You never know what the weather is going to be like on the Central Coast during the winter. One day it can be beautiful and the next it can be raining. On Sunday, I had a wedding and the forecast predicted possible showers and high winds…luckily they are not always right. Yes, it was a bit cloudy, but it made for some amazing lighting at Edna Valley Vineyards.

Holly and Adam were such a fun couple to shoot. Holly's relaxed/personality combined with her overwhelming excitement to marry Adam made the day a blast. I heard her whisper to Adam at one point in the day, "Husband...WOW, that is so fun to say!" They were a couple that you could tell had fun together and everyone around them enjoyed their presence. All in all, it was a blessing to be there and be a part of their big day. Thanks and Congrats!

Kristen and Rob

I love when I get to shoot engagements of a couple in a new place. Kristen and Rob wanted to go to a local park in San Luis Obispo and we had a blast between all the different features the park offered. From the creek to the playground horses, we found plenty to do.

One thing I loved about Kristen and Rob besides how laid back they were, was their ability to pull of the "no smile picture." Not everyone can do it and look natural, but Rob and Kristen did with style. They are a great couple and I am excited for their wedding in August!

Wrestling Mania

Monday, February 05, 2007

I have learned to rarely be surprised with the photo shoots I receive. Never in a million years would I have thought that I would shoot a wrestling team, however, like the old saying goes, "never say never." A good friend of ours is the varsity coach for one of the local high schools in the county. Wanting to think outside the box with what to get the graduating seniors, Kevin called me up and asked me to shoot the guys. I have to admit that I had a blast! The tension and excitement in the gym was enough for anyone to feel. I wouldn't say that I am going to lean towards sporting events more so than weddings, but it gave me something different to shoot in the slow season...and made me appreciate these high school kids.

Baby London

There has to be something said for the look parents have when they look at their new baby...maybe it is pure joy or complete awe. Whatever it is, it's amazing and I love being able to capture it. I think pregnancy is definitely in the water here since I am getting photo calls right and left to take baby portraits. I must say though, it's such a blessing. Children are a true gift from God and I love wondering what each one will grow up to be.

Last Thursday I had the great joy of shooting Baby London at her house. Coming from beautiful parents, my job was simple. She had these huge blue eyes that seriously had a twinkle in them when she smiled at her parents. Congratulations Todd and Jonnell!
